  • The U.K. Information Commissioner's Office issued a formal reprimand to the Ministry of Justice after 14 bags of confidential documents, including medical and security data, were left unsecured in a prison holding area for 18 days. The ICO said at least 44 prisoners and staff had access to the information and staff "did nothing proactive to ensure the personal information was secured."
  • The ICO also published guidance on responding to subject access requests. The ICO said businesses and employers risk fines or reprimands for compliance failures, but ICO Policy Group Manager Elanor McCombe said many employers misunderstand the requests or underestimate their importance.
