U.K. Deputy Information Commissioner Steve Wood outlined the ICO's opinion on how data protection can be applied to the U.K.'s proposed digital identity framework. Wood said the draft framework should be supported by "strong governance and effective data protection safeguards," noting the ICO has "highlighted that accountability for the way that personal data is processed must be present from the outset." Wood also mentions recommendations regarding data minimization and purpose limitation, as well as sufficient technical and organizational security measures.
