Hong Kong's Education Bureau will let individual schools determine if they should install CCTV cameras on their premises, the South China Morning Post reports. The Education Bureau's decision comes following Hong Kong police making 21 recommendations for best practices to reduce crime in schools, eight of which addressed installing security cameras. While police officials said types of crime in school settings typically differ from other public and private facilities, schools should adopt the CCTV recommendations "based on the actual situation" they face.
