TechCrunch reports Google and Apple plan to present developers with the first version of a COVID-19 contact tracing application programming interface April 28. European Commissioner for Internal Market and Services Thierry Breton acknowledged the launch of the app and its decentralized system during a recent call with Apple CEO Tim Cook. The app's release was originally expected by the middle of May. Meanwhile, Dutch engineer and Bluetooth creator Jaap Haartsen says Bluetooth, in its current form, doesn't have the accuracy to be used alone for COVID-19 contact tracing.
