Italy's data protection authority, the Garante, confiscated databases in use by two call center companies allegedly conducting illegal telemarketing activities. The companies were among four call centers fined a total of 1.8 million euros. The Garante said it is the first time it has confiscated databases. The action "is part of the framework of the strengthening of the lines of supervision of legality, to protect all citizens, in a segment as important as it is delicate."
