The U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation will hold an executive session Feb. 2 to consider advancing U.S. Federal Trade Commissioner nominee Alvaro Bedoya to a full Senate vote. Bedoya's nomination is before the committee again after his prior nomination expired at the end of the 2021 session. The committee previously voted to advance Bedoya's appointment on a 14-14 party-line tally. The hearing will also consider advancing the nomination of Gigi Sohn as commissioner for the U.S. Federal Communications Commission.
