U.S. Federal Trade Commission Chair Lina Khan indicated fines alone are insufficient to curb data privacy abuses by Big Tech firms, The Record reports. Khan's comments were made in the context of Meta's lawsuit against the FTC, which is attempting to overturn an agency order mandating the company limit its use of facial recognition technology and a total ban on children's data monetization. The FTC order also carried a USD5 billion fine.
