The Verge reports a research project by Facebook's AI team shows the scope of capabilities for augmented reality devices, including Facebook's own AR glasses. The research shows AI systems could use first-person video to record what people see, do and hear, with skills like "episodic memory" and "audio-visual diarization." A Facebook spokesperson said privacy safeguards are anticipated. "We expect that to the extent companies use this dataset and benchmark to develop commercial applications, they will develop safeguards for such applications," they said.
