The European Commission is conducting a public consultation as it considers tighter rules on the use of microtargeting for online political advertising, Euractiv reports. The European Commission's Renate Nikolay said banning microtargeting under certain circumstances is being considered. In its submission to the commission, Google said it does not “support restricting broad targeting capabilities for election ads; however we do believe that verification, in-ad disclosures … and an election ads repository are essential.”
