Officials from the U.S. and the European Union are set to meet for the third-annual joint review of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield agreement. The White House said in a statement the Trump administration's commitment to mechanisms such as Privacy Shield and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Cross-Border Privacy Rules System has “never been stronger.” U.S. Secretary of Commerce Wilbur Ross announced more than 5,000 organizations have been certified under Privacy Shield. “Since the last review more companies are using the Privacy Shield agreement to transfer data and the U.S. has implemented more oversight with the ombudsperson and by getting a regulatory board fully staffed,” Computer & Communications Industry Association President and CEO Ed Black said.
