Technologies of many stripes are emerging, helping organizations with innovation and the bottom line, while also presenting thorny privacy issues. Many of these technologies evade regulation, can be targets for adversaries, and present significant challenges for regulators, privacy and infosec pros, as well as consumers. There are, however, technologies that can help: encryption, blockchain, anonymization, among others. This afternoon, check out the half-day workshop, “Talking Tech for Privacy Pros: Encryption, Blockchain, Anonymization, and More!” to discuss future tech trends that may well constrain existing privacy paradigms. Privacy Analytics CEO Khaled El Emam, one of the speakers in the workshop, co-wrote this Privacy Advisor article on whether anonymization or deidentification requires consent under the EU General Data Protection Regulation.
