The European Data Protection Board published its binding decision in the Irish Data Protection Commission's case against WhatsApp over violations of the EU General Data Protection Regulation concerning transparency and user consent. The decision comes after the DPC fined WhatsApp 5.5 million euros while refusing additional orders from the EDPB and proposing a claim against the board to the Court of Justice of the European Union. Editor's note: The IAPP's Alex LaCasse reported on the DPC's WhatsApp fine and the disagreement with the EDPB.
