During its 34th plenary session, the European Data Protection Board adopted its official statement on the invalidation of the EU-U.S. Privacy Shield and validation of standard contractual clauses by the Court of Justice of the European Union. The EDPB said the U.S. and EU must find a framework that guarantees "essentially equivalent" data protection while emphasizing the responsibilities of the data exporter with SCCs. Additionally, the board adopted guidelines on the second Payment Services Directive and a letter from European Parliament Member Ďuriš Nicholsonová on COVID-19-related data protection.
