In a case that could have huge implications for trans-border data flows between the EU and U.S., the European Court of Justice is set to begin adjudication Tuesday on whether U.S. technology companies like Facebook can send EU citizens’ personal information to the U.S. via frameworks like Safe Harbor, where U.S. intelligence services have access, the Irish Independent reports. The case stems from the work of Austrian law student Max Schrems and his group Europe v Facebook. On Sunday, the group posted news and background of the expected hearing and will provide online updates in real time. Editor’s Note: Find more background on the case here.
