ComputerWeekly reports Dutch privacy advocacy group Foundation for Market Information Research, Stichting Onderzoek Marktinformatie, alleged TikTok violates children's privacy and provisions of the EU General Data Protection Regulation. SOMI plans to file a formal complaint against the short-video app once it completes "thorough research" of a potential lack of safeguards for children and shortcomings related to GDPR requirements on data transfers. A TikTok spokesperson said, "Protecting our users’ privacy is a top priority and we strongly reject any claims to the contrary."
