Confidential details of 8,000 insurance claims were mistakenly released by New Zealand’s Earthquake Commission, Stuff reports. The data was sent to one claimant and their lawyer, though only the individual’s information was intended to be sent. EQC Chief Executive Sid Miller said a staff member failed to follow “several key security steps, including well-established password protection of the documents.” He said the incident “demonstrates that our systems, processes and training still require further tightening.”
