In remarks celebrating Safer Internet Day 2021, U.K. Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham addressed the importance of children's online privacy. Denham noted children "must be protected within the digital world while they learn, explore and play online," pointing to the ICO's Age Appropriate Design Code as "a vital step towards providing that protection." She added the ICO continues to engage in further resources to boost children's data protection.
