Mobile data broker Kochava asked an Idaho District Court judge to dismiss a U.S. class-action lawsuit brought by California and Washington state smartphone users who allege the company sold their geolocation data, MediaPost reports. The company claimed users could not assert they were harmed as the result of the alleged sale, and even if they could, the company claimed it did not violate state law. The plaintiffs alleged Kochava "sells people's precise geolocation data along with their mobile ad identifiers," which could be "used to track consumers to sensitive locations."
