Cathay Pacific Airways announced a data breach has impacted 9.4 million passengers of the airline and its unit Hong Kong Dragon Airlines after information was accessed without authorization, The Straits Times reports. Cathay said in a statement the data included the “names of passengers, their nationalities, dates of birth, telephone numbers, email and physical addresses, passport numbers, identity card numbers and historical travel information.” Cathay Pacific Chief Executive Rupert Hogg said, "We acted immediately to contain the event, commence a thorough investigation with the assistance of a leading cyber-security firm, and to further strengthen our IT security measures."
