The Associated Press reports a U.S. District Court judge in New Mexico dismissed a children's privacy lawsuit brought against Google by New Mexico Attorney General Hector Balderas. The dismissal was granted after the judge found Google is not required to obtain direct consent from parents for children's data collection when schools are utilizing education technology platforms. Balderas said his office was disappointed with the ruling, noting "the law is clear" and Google "is not putting the privacy and security of children first."
