The Irish Data Protection Commission’s 450,000 euro fine against Twitter has been confirmed in the Dublin Circuit Court. The decision, finalized in December 2020, stems from Twitter’s EU General Data Protection Regulation violations related to a 2019 data breach. The DPC’s inquiry involved Twitter’s notification of the breach, which exposed accounts of protected Twitter for Android users who changed their email address, finding the company provided notice outside of the mandated 72-hour reporting window.
