  • The French data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, announced the adoption of cookies guidelines and recommendations in accordance with June's order from France's Council of State, the Conseil d’État. The amendments made by the CNIL aim to allow online advertisers and consumers to have more control over the tracking tools.
  • In Germany, Rhineland-Palatinate's Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information announced it received inquiries on the increased deployment of cookie banners by websites. Commissioner Dieter Kugelmann said the use of banners is "a great success," noting it's "a few more clicks, but also a lot more self-determination" for users.
