Colombia's data protection authority, the Superintendencia de Industria y Comercio, announced a fine of 200,004,519 pesos to Sodimac Colombia for consumer privacy violations. The DPA found the home furniture retailer did not obtain "prior, express and informed authorization" before collecting customer data while also noting that the company's "privacy notices" do not constitute proper consent. In addition to the fine, the retailer was ordered to delete all prior personal information collected using the "privacy notices."
