Advocacy groups have called for the U.S. Federal Trade Commission to increase its enforcement actions against Children's Online Privacy Protection Act violators, MediaPost reports. A 19-group coalition, which includes the Campaign for a Commercial-Free Childhood, Center for Digital Democracy, Electronic Frontier Foundation and Public Citizen, submitted its public comments on potential COPPA updates, calling on the FTC to "more aggressively enforce its existing rules." The group also suggested improved regulation on data-collection limits to "protect the confidentiality, security, and integrity of personal information collected from children."
