- France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l’informatique et des libertés, announced the results of its second round of cookie compliance notices, noting 30 of the 40 notices issued were resolved. The remaining companies that received notices to cure prior to the Sept. 6 deadline either requested delays due to technical or operational issues or have not acknowledged the CNIL's notice.
- Finland's Transport and Communications Agency published updated cookie guidance. Notably, the guide indicates user consent is not required for what the agency deems "essential cookies" and legitimate interest is not grounds for cookie use or storage in all cases.
