France’s data protection authority, the CNIL, has released a series of best practices to help developers improve their products at the design stage. The agency released its “Developer Kit” as a way to ensure any solution, website or program that processes data is created to protect users’ information. The CNIL offers recommendations for developers when choosing a tool, such as reading the conditions of use if the tool receives personal data. The kit also offers guidelines for managing source code, strengthening the quality of the code, and documenting code and architecture. (Original article is in French.)
