  • France's data protection authority, the Commission nationale de l'informatique et des libertés, published an updated guide to the EU General Data Protection Regulation for web and application developers. The additions highlight provisions on third-party cookies and other tracers as well as audience measurement technologies.
  • The CNIL also issued approximately 60 cookie compliance notices and 30 new orders to organizations for not offering users the ability to refuse cookies as easily as accepting them. Recent investigations found cookies subject to consent automatically put in place without user consent and non-compliant information banners with cookies despite user refusal.
