MediaPost reports a class-action lawsuit has been filed in the U.S. District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia against Clearview AI regarding its facial-recognition database. The suit claims Clearview violated a Virginia law that gives individuals ownership of their names and images when being used for commercial purposes. The filing comes after Clearview was hit with a privacy suit in Illinois at the end of January. Meanwhile, Clearview has received a cease-and-desist letter from Google and YouTube.
