The Wall Street Journal reports the National People’s Congress of China is expected to approve the creation of a data authority during March's annual session. The current regulatory structure on data violations is shared across multiple agencies. More specifically, the new regulator will enforce data collection, sharing and transfers rules under the Personal Information Protection Law while also monitoring data security standards and the use of algorithms.
