The Wall Street Journal reports employees at Capital One voiced concerns pertaining to the company's cybersecurity unit prior to its data breach last month. Problems with staffing and a lack of prompt software installation were the main issues noted by employees. While a Capital One spokeswoman said the cybersecurity staff has grown in recent years, some employees said one-third of the unit left the bank in 2018. "Safeguarding information is essential to our mission and to our role as a financial institution. We’ve invested heavily in cybersecurity and will continue to do so," the spokeswoman said. Meanwhile, CyberScoop reports Amazon Web Services has found no issues with alleged hacks of other companies by Capital One hacker Paige Thompson. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
