Blue Shield of California has confirmed a breach involving protected health information that had been shared with an unauthorized insurance broker, HealthITSecurity reports. According to a breach notification submitted to the California attorney general’s office, the data breach occurred in November 2017 and may have resulted in the insurance broker contacting subscribers to sell another insurance plan. Meanwhile, UnityPoint Health, Sangamo Therapeutics, Carolina Digestive Health Associates and health care website services provider FastHealth all reported data breaches.
