Two bills seeking extended exemptions for employee and business-to-business data under the California Privacy Rights Act were filed to the California State Assembly. Assembly Bill 2871 seeks to have the exemptions be held in place indefinitely while AB 2891 would allow the exemption through Jan. 1, 2026. Current exemptions on both types of data are set to expire Jan. 1, 2023. Additionally, the Senate Bill 1189, which proposes amendments to the CPRA's regulation of biometric information, was introduced to the California Senate.
