The Belgian data protection authority, Gegevensbeschermingsautoriteit, has published a draft of its strategic plan for 2019 to 2025. The DPA will focus on five sectors, including telecommunications and media, government, direct marketing, education, and small- and medium-sized enterprises. The agency also plans to put an emphasis on the role of the data protection officer, legitimate data processing and citizens’ rights under the EU General Data Protection Regulation. The DPA has opened a public consultation for the draft plan. Feedback must be sent to the agency by Jan. 7. (Original articles are in Dutch.)
