California Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced the approval of additional regulations for the California Consumer Privacy Act. The regulations ban the use of "dark patterns" that are designed to inhibit residents' ability to opt out of the sale of their personal data and provide businesses with the optional Privacy Options icon, a tool created by Carnegie Mellon University’s Cylab and the University of Michigan’s School of Information to communicate privacy choices to consumers.
