Australian rental application service 2Apply launched "Verify," a program shielding tenants' personal information from real estate companies for a AUD20 fee, The Sydney Morning Herald reports. The platform employs fraud prevention company GB Group to verify a tenant applicant’s identify, and, in turn, 2Apply will vouch for the applicant to a real estate broker when they attempt to lease a rental property. Critics said 2Apply’s paid service, created in response to high-profile data breaches such as at Optus, requests too much personal data from applicants.
