Each year we feature an artist-in-residence here at Summit to display that curious intersection between art, technology and privacy. GPS19 features the work of architect Ursula Lavrenčič and information designer Auke Touwslager. Their Cell Phone Disco is a surface that displays the electromagnetic field of active cellphones by illuminating thousands of lights when a call is made or received in the vicinity of the installation. Cell Phone Disco makes an invisible property of the environment perceptible to our senses. It reveals the communicating body of the mobile phone.
