Japan's Personal Information Protection Commission announced amendments to the Act on the Protection of Personal Information will take force April 1, 2022. Transitional measures for companies partaking in third-party data sharing take effect Oct. 1, 2021. The revised legislation will add requirements for data breach notification, pseudonymization, user consent and international data transfers.
