The AI Forum’s Law, Society and Ethics Working Group has published a set of guidelines for designing, developing or using artificial intelligence in New Zealand. The principles include respecting fairness and justice; ensuring reliability, security and privacy; providing appropriate human oversight and accountability; and using the technology to promote the well-being of New Zealanders as much as possible. Using the principles, stakeholders can better manage the “identified risks and (unintended) consequences of AI,” and the public will be more likely to trust the technology, according to the document.
