While the EU General Data Protection Regulation has been getting all the headlines, privacy professionals working globally know that two of the world's most stringent privacy laws reside in Asia, with Japan's new Personal Information Protection Commission and South Korea's Communications Commission emerging as important global regulators. It's no wonder then that EU Justice Commissioner Věra Jourová traveled recently to both countries to continue negotiations on an adequacy agreement that would allow personal data to travel freely between either country and the EU.
