The Australian Competition & Consumer Commission announced proceedings with the Federal Court of Australia alleging Google misled users into providing consent for the use of their personal information. The ACCC claims Google paired the personal data with other personal information retrieved from third-party sites. "The use of this new combined information allowed Google to increase significantly the value of its advertising products," ACCC Chair Rod Sims said, adding Google "increased the 'price' of Google’s services, without consumers’ knowledge."
