In a blog post, Director of the Norwegian data protection authority Bjørn Erik Thon called for a national strategy on privacy and security in schools. Thon expressed concern that schools lack the ability to secure personal information and said, “The competence in the school system does not keep pace with the use of the technological tools.” A safe learning environment “also means that our children’s personal data is processed in a responsible and secure manner, in line with the regulations,” he added.
