This position is located within the Division of Technology of the Department of Administration. The incumbent will serve as Deputy Chief Privacy Officer under the limited supervision of the Chief Privacy Officer. Incumbent assists in the development, coordination, and management of information privacy activities within State of South Carolina government. Ensures statewide compliance with statutory, regulatory, policy information, privacy requirements, and best practices by researching privacy issues, conducting privacy analyses, operationalizing compliance requirements, and conducting training and awareness outreach.
Serves as the Enterprise Privacy Office (EPO) point of contact for assigned agency privacy liaisons. Advises agencies on the integration of privacy, confidentiality, and data security requirements in policy and procedures in order to appropriately safeguard sensitive information. Creates and maintains educational and awareness privacy materials. Coordinates activities for privacy training and privacy professional development. In the absence of the Chief Privacy Officer, incumbent will serve as a member of the executive steering team with the CIO and CISO, to ensure the coordination of critical IT and operational efforts and solutions for State security and privacy challenges. Performs other duties as required.
Minimum and Additional Requirements:
A bachelor's degree with experience working on information privacy issues, such as policies and procedures, operational compliance, risk assessment, incident response, and program implementation frameworks. General management experience to include responsibilities such as budget and personnel management and planning resource allocation.
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS: Ability to understand and analyze information security and information technology to determine potential impacts on privacy. Incumbent may be required to work beyond the standard 37.5 hrs/week and could include working nights, weekends, and holidays, either on-site, remotely, or a combination of the two. Position may require overnight travel, and may be required to report to work during emergency or hazardous weather situations. At least three (3) years of experience working on information privacy issues, such as policies and procedures, operational compliance, risk assessment, incident response, and program implementation frameworks. At least two (2) years of general management experience to include responsibilities such as budget and personnel management and planning resource allocation. International Association of Privacy Professionals Certified Information Privacy Professional (CIPP) designation.
