Retired Indian Supreme Court Justice B.N. Srikrishna said proposed government exemptions in India's draft Digital Personal Data Protection Bill cause him "great concern," The Hindu reports. Srikrishna said, "The draft gives too much margin to the government and does little to protect individuals' fundamental right of data privacy." He said the proposed exemption could empower government actors to invade citizens' privacy and called for an independent data protection authority in the final version of the bill.
