India’s Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will explore loosening data localization requirements in the draft Data Protection Bill, The Indian Express reports. A senior government official said "hundreds of letters" from Indian startups poured in regarding issues existing data localization requirements pose to business models. The same official said lawmakers will look into changes for startups because the government doesn't want to "stifle innovation" and "does not want to create unnecessary hurdles."
