In response to an Austrian ruling that the use of Google Analytics violates the EU General Data Protection Regulation, Google Analytics Product Management Director Russell Ketchum sought to explain the service. Google Analytics uses “data transfer agreements like EU Standard Contractual Clauses ... for transferring data to the United States,” he said, with additional safeguards. It does not track people across the web or applications, he said, and organizations control and own collected data. Also, the service is designed to protect and safeguard data from government access.
