A coalition of advertising industry groups asked North Dakota lawmakers to revise a proposed state privacy law, MediaPost reports. House Bill 1330 would require companies to obtain opt-in consent before selling user data. In a letter to lawmakers, the Association of National Advertisers, American Association of Advertising Agencies, Interactive Advertising Bureau, Network Advertising Initiative, and American Advertising Federation argue "such an approach would create the most restrictive privacy law in the United States, thereby hindering legitimate business, particularly small businesses and harming North Dakotan consumers."
