The Wall Street Journal conducted a test where it found at least 11 popular apps send sensitive personal information to Facebook immediately after it is entered by users without "any prominent or specific disclosure." The data is allegedly sent to the social media company even if the user has no connection to Facebook. The Wall Street Journal lists Instant Heart Rate: HR Monitor, Flo Health Inc.’s Flo Period & Ovulation Tracker, and Realtor.com as three of the apps that have turned over information to Facebook. The tech company said it has told the apps to cease all data sharing and that it would consider additional actions should the apps fail to comply. At least four of the apps identified by the Journal have stopped sharing information with Facebook. Gov. Andrew Cuomo, D-N.Y., has called on state agencies and federal regulators to investigate Facebook over the Journal's findings. (Registration may be required to access this story.)
