A proposal posted in WordPress Core aims to block Google's Federated Learning of Cohorts tracking method, ZDNet reports. The proposal called for FLoC to be treated as a "security concern" and backported before the next version of WordPress is rolled out in July. "When balancing the stakeholder interests, the needs of website administrators who are not even aware that this is something that they need to mitigate — and the interests of the users and visitors to those sites, is simply more compelling," the proposal stated. Editor's note: IAPP Staff Writer Joe Duball reported for The Privacy Advisor on Google's decision not to pursue a cross-site tracking alternative as it abandons third-party cookies.
