Wire has announced the beta launch of its new end-to-end encryption messaging platform, called Teams, TechCrunch reports. Co-founder Alan Duric explained that Wire’s existing user base and the growing need to protect business communications drove its development. Teams’ code is open-sourced and supports multiple accounts, making it possible for a person to have both a personal and professional account. Duric said that demand is greatest in Europe, where “businesses affected by the EU’s upcoming GDPR rules benefit from end-to-end encryption, as it automatically protects the data they share with the team from third party access.” Editor's Note: The IAPP's Privacy Tech recently covered Wickr’s beta version of a secure calling and video conferencing tool.
