A Munich Court sided with the Wikimedia Foundation after the organization was sued by German documentarian Dr. Evelyn Schels, who argued that the publication of her birthdate on her Wikipedia page was done so without consent and was detrimental to her privacy, VentureBeat reports. The court didn’t think so. “The publication of the Claimant’s birth year in the online lexicon ‘Wikipedia’ does not infringe upon her general right of personality or data protection law,” said the Amtsgericht Munchen, adding that her date of birth was already public information. This isn’t the first case of age data being squabbled over in court, with IMDb overcoming a similar suit in 2013.
